Multi Modal Access Design
Multi Modal Access Design is an urban design research project led by RVTR and supported by Ford Motor Company that examines innovative methods for bringing better access to food, health, learning, and mobility services to cities.

This body of work was completed under Geoffrey Thün and Kathy Velikov while at RVTR.
The work focused on collecting and analyzing GIS data at the city and regional scale for Detroit, Chicago, and San Francisco. We examined and visually represented food, health, learning, and mobility data sources to better understand areas in need of better access.
The research team developed three value ranking systems to identity areas with highest priority. We built out a GIS model that reclassifies the access data and forms new polygons based on the overlapping areas lacking access. After analysis, we developed ideas for interventions that could be deployed to the area of interest locations.
