Urban Flood Planning
An initiative to deploy Green Stormwater Infrastructure into high priority areas in Jackson experiencing frequent flooding
-
In 2019, Tree was invited to the Climate, Resilience, and Water Equity Urban Flooding Bootcamp at the Kresge Foundation in Troy Michigan to represent the City of Jackson.
The program focused on sharing solutions and strategies that could expedite green stormwater infrastructure efforts. For the conference we developed an analysis using GIS data that overlaid population density, median family income, land cover, impervious surfaces, watersheds, and flood zones to identify target areas in most need of flood solutions.
We identified an area that intersects high flooding, high population density, and low-income to plan a stormwater demonstration park.
