In 2018, we co-authored a Federal Transit Authority planning grant proposal that provided $1M for a Transit Oriented Development corridor planning. Our project proposal titled “Oneline” is centered around a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that extends from the Fondren neighborhood through Downtown to Jackson State University.
The project provides new infrastructure that prioritizes pedestrians, bicycles, bikeshare, carshare, electric scooters, and the bus rapid transit system along with smart street infrastructure including public WiFi, smart cameras, street lights, traffic signals, digital display panels.The neighborhoods located within the corridor contain Universities and some of the largest employers including Jackson State University, Millsaps College, Belhaven University, University of Mississippi Medical Center, and Baptist Medical Center.
The neighborhoods adjacent to these institutions have the highest population density in the state of Mississippi. The Online project is one corridor out of six that we planned while helping to redesign the city’s comprehensive transit plan. We hosted 10 community meetings along the line at the universities and medical institutions.

While working at the Jackson Planning Department, we also helped lead the team rebranding the Jackson bus system into a multi-modal transit brand.
